Production and the page
Folio
The line at the top or bottom of a page carrying the page number, publication name and date.
The folio is the small print that runs along the edge of the page: the number, the masthead, the date, sometimes the section. Readers barely notice it, which means it is doing its job. Subs care a great deal, because a wrong folio is the kind of small, public mistake that makes a whole paper look sloppy.
