Production and the page
Masthead
The publication's title as it appears at the top of the front page, and by extension the publication itself.
The masthead is the grand title across the top of page one, and the word has come to mean the whole title: "a respected masthead". It is the brand, the promise and the thing readers trust before they read a word. A separate sense, the staff box listing who runs the publication, also goes by masthead in some shops.
