Wonder World Episode Guide

A growing, searchable guide to the episodes of Simon Townsend's Wonder World.

People write to the family all the time asking the same question: do you have that episode, the one with the killer whale, or the stamps, or the day Simon announced Woodrow had died. This guide is how to find it. Search by episode number, reporter, guest, place or topic, and where the episode is on the show's YouTube channel it can be watched straight away.

Right now the guide covers the 35 episodes shared on YouTube so far. 11 of them have a full segment by segment guide, and more are added over time, so check back. If you spot something wrong, or you are after an episode that is not here yet, please get in touch.

Searches the episode number, reporters, guests, stories, locations and keywords. Try a name like Brett Clements, a topic like music video, or just a number like 351.

How this guide is put together

Each entry is built from the show's restoration notes: the episode number, the year it went to air, the reporters who appeared, and the stories in it. The episodes with a full guide have been watched and catalogued segment by segment, so you can see every story, every reporter and every place featured before you press play.

A year shown plainly, like 1986, is one the tape's own slate confirms or one that two separate records agree on. A year shown as c. 1986 is the year the episode was given when it was published to YouTube, and it is the best available guide rather than a confirmed date. Where the records genuinely disagree, no year is shown at all, because a blank is more honest than a confident guess. Reporters are named only where the name has been confirmed, so some segments are deliberately left unattributed.

Wonder World ran for 1,961 episodes between 1979 and 1987. Most have not yet been digitised. This guide will keep growing for years, and every episode added is one more piece of the show preserved for the people who grew up with it.
