Fixer
A local who arranges access, translation and logistics for a visiting reporter, especially on foreign or difficult stories.
On unfamiliar ground a fixer is worth more than any piece of gear. They know who to call, which road is safe, how to get the interview and what a thing really costs. Fixers rarely get a byline and often take the real risk. Good ones are the difference between a story and a wasted trip.
