Production and the page

Credit line

Also: photo credit

The small line naming the photographer or supplier of an image, the photo's equivalent of a byline.

The credit line is the "Picture: Jane Smith" tucked beside or beneath a photo. It gives the photographer their due and tells the reader where the image came from, which matters more than ever when anyone can fake one. Use the supplied wording, and never strip a credit to make a picture look like your own.
