On Wonder World
Monica Trapaga is named among the show's reporters in the family's own history of Wonder World. She has not been matched to a surviving tape yet, so she sits here on the strength of that record rather than the archive, and anyone who remembers her stories is welcome to get in touch.
After Wonder World
Trapaga became one of the most familiar faces and voices in Australian children's television. She was a presenter on the ABC's Play School from 1990 to 1998, and from 1992 she sang the theme to Bananas in Pyjamas. A serious jazz singer as well, she led her own band, Monica and the Moochers, releasing albums through the late 1980s and into the 1990s, and for several years she presented decorating segments on Better Homes and Gardens. She has since run shops in the inner west of Sydney and kept singing and writing.
