On Wonder World
Angela Catterns was one of the first four reporters when Wonder World went to air in 1979. Her very first story, the family likes to remember, was about miniature portraits of mice, the mousterpieces.
She has since called it possibly the greatest job she ever had. Of Townsend she said that "he really knew what he wanted, he wasn't about to compromise, and he was actually a lovely boss".
After Wonder World
She left to travel and produced the documentary Double Concerto, about the pianist Roger Woodward and the violinist Wanda Wilkomirska, which won several AFI Awards. Then came the radio career she is best known for: mornings on Triple J, the evening show on ABC Local Radio, and finally Breakfast on 702 ABC Sydney, where in 2004 she briefly became the city's number one breakfast presenter ahead of Alan Jones.
Decades after those mousterpieces, she is still one of the most recognisable voices in the country, working as a broadcaster, narrator and voice artist.
