Movie scripts sound easy, don't they? A movie script is usually just 120 pages. The rough guide is one page = one minute on the screen. But movie scripts are incredibly difficult to create. To find out if writing movie scripts is for you, do these following two actions.

  1. On the internet go to www.script-o-rama.com or screentalk.com or hot-free-movie-scripts.com
  2. Download (free) a copy of a script of a movie you like. Then buy or hire a video copy of that movie. Watch the movie two or three times, following the dialogue and action in the script.
  3. Then, copy-type the script. That is, type up a copy of all the words. Copy every word, letter, space and punctuation mark in the correct place. Use upper case (capitals) and lower case just as in the script. Don't alter or omit anything.

By the time you have copy-typed your chosen script, making sure you are 100% accurate, you will have a real feel for what's involved in writing movie scripts. This doesn't mean you yet have the talent to do it, but at least you are beginning to understand what's involved.
