Do NOT show their writings to loved ones. Your friends and relatives love and respect you and want for you what you want for yourself. They are not helpful as critics of the quality of your writing. They usually say what you have written is great because they want to encourage you. So their comments have little value. Or, they go overboard the other way and offer all sorts of irrelevant or incorrect criticism. However, if you have a friend who's good at spelling, punctuation and grammar, this person could be helpful in picking up small details that make for better presentation. But I beg you. Don't ask loved ones about the QUALITY of your writing. Find a professional critic. Someone who is not afraid to tell you the truth.
